HOMEPAGE » THE WATER MARGINS
The Water Margins
Date: Sunday 22 June 2008
Time: 11am to 7pm
Venue: Tottenham Marshes and the River Lee, Watermead Way, London N17 0XB
A day of picnic and performance: live music, walkabout theatre, visual installations and a range of arts-based activities for all the family in a beautiful natural setting
For one day only, The Water Margins transforms the beautiful natural environment of the 100-acre Tottenham Marshes into a magical wetland picnic and performance area.
- The seagulls: Human-sized seagulls with working beaks will descend in flocks on picnickers, rummaging in bags and pockets, stealing food from plates and picnic baskets, surreally squabbling amongst themselves and generally causing chaos.
- Five Giant Nautilus Shells: Musicians dressed as fish each pull a two metre high nautilus shell horn behind them whilst emanating a symphonic watery soundtrack. Stand in the focus of the piece and experience total immersion on dry land.
- Silverfish: Walk the Plank’s giant multi-coloured Silverfish will be swimming up and down the River Lee between Tottenham and Stonebridge Lock all day firing coloured smoke, pyrotechnic jets, and squirting water at unsuspecting passers-by!
